Chinese New Year is the most important festivity for the Chinese people. It is also called the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year.
Every year has an animal’s name. These animals are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. A Chinese legend says that these twelve animals had a race. The first year was named after the rat, the winner. The other eleven years were named after the order in which the animals arrived in the race. The clever rat jumped onto the ox’s back then at the end jumped over the ox’s head to arrive first!
The Chinese believe that a person born in a particular year has some of the characteristics of animal.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve all family members enjoy a big, delicious meal. It is very important for the Chinese to be with their families on this occasion. Fish is always part of the dinner because it represents abundance.

This money is put into bright red and gold envelopes. Fill under the pillow. in the morning of new year , the kid wakes up to see the “l(fā)ucky money”, exprethat oneself become one year older. Red is a traditional color for festivals, celebrations, weddings and birthdays.
The lion dancers are always part of the festivities. The lion has a big head and long body made of cloth. The lion dance is accompanied by drums, cymbals and noisy firecrackers. According to ancient traditions the great noise frightens away evil spirits.

My opinion on copying others homework It is konwn to us all that some students copy others homework, their reasons are as below:first of all,the homework is too much and always difficult;the second, they are not intrested in the lessons;and the third, the aim of finishing their homework is to please the teacher. In my opinion, copying others homework is not good, because its against the rules of the school. We should be honest and work hard to get high scores. If we have difficulties,we can even ask the teacher or our classmates for their help.
元旦英語演講稿 5
Dear Judges and Friends,The topic for my speech today is “Festival.” I would like to talk about my favorite festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival.
In China we have several important festivals, such as the Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival, the Dragon-boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Among them, I like Mid-Autumn festival best, especially because I live in Xiamen.
In Xiamen, when we celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival, we do not only follow the common practices such as having a big dinner party with our family, eating mooncakes, and appreciating the full moon at night, we also have one unique custom which is only practiced in Xiamen, that is “Bo Bing”.
“Bo Bing” is a very interesting game that almost all Xiamen people play during this festival. Usually family members or close friends get together around a table with a big round bowl in the middle and six dices in the bowl. We take turns to throw the dices into the bowl. We will get different prizes accroding to the different ways the dices show their upper sides. Everyone is likely to become the champion or “Zhuangyuan” for the year. There is an element of luck and equal opportunity in this game.
So people usually get excited while playing. Also, the game gives very pleasant sounds. The tinkling made by the dices falling into the bowl is pleasant, people’s laughing, cheering and applauding for the big prizes they’ve won is pleasant. All this adds greatly to the joyful atmosphere of this festival. As a kid, of course I also like the material prizes I get from the game, such as a candy or a cake.
In this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, my family invited our foreign friends to come to our home to celebrate the Festival together. They have two children who are younger than me. While our parents were making Jiaozi together, we kids played “Bo Bing”. We bought quite some gifts to share with our guests as their prizes. They enjoyed the game and our get-together very much.
The literal translation of “Bo Bing” is “mooncake gambling.” But actually it is not gambling, at least our family never plays it that way. For us, it is more an occasion of happy sharing and getting-together. This is why Xiamen’s Mid-Autumn Festival has become my favorite festival in the year.
Thank you very much!

Dear children and teachers
Good morning, everyone!
In a few days, it will be January 1, 20xx. Do you know what festival it is?
New Year - New Years Day. January 1 of each year is New Years Day, the beginning of the New Year. In order to welcome the arrival of the New Year, people express their desire for a better and happy life in various ways. Everyone will hold different celebrations. Lets have a happy and peaceful New Year together. Then, our kindergarten will also hold the theme activity of "Welcome the New Year Talent Show". At that time, we will invite our children to bring a fruit from home to the general mobilization to make a "Fruit Greeting Card". The children should give full play to their imagination, make beautiful and unique fruit greeting cards, and send them to our dear parents as New Year gifts. I wish them a happy New Year, because they are your closest friends, I think your parents will be very happy.
Finally, I wish the children good health and strong growth in the new year! Wish teachers a happy family and always be happy! At the same time, I wish our Experimental First Kindergarten a better tomorrow! Children, lets give warm applause to yourself and your teachers!

The electric door guard has replaced the traditional "door lady" in a dormitory at Shanghai Songjiang University City, within the range of many universities. In the future, more electric door guards will take the place of "door ladies." The electric door guard operates under an IC card system, with students using IC cards to enter. Each resident student is issued an IC card with his/her personal information stored on it. Information like the card-holding students name, major, grade, and even time of entry will be stored on their IC card. The door has also been equipped with a "digital eye" to take video 24 hours a day 7 days a week. With the new "door guard" already on duty, students began to discuss the pros and cons of the latest renovation to their dorm in community forums. Some complained that having to take their IC card everywhere is inconvenient, adding that the system is not always reliable. They noted times when the system failed to recognize them and they had to call repair workers to fix it. Others say the former "door lady" was more flexible and gave them a sense of "home." Sometimes when a student had to stay out late, to study or for other business, the door lady would wait for them and let them in if they told her beforehand. Or when students parents came to visit, the door lady would let them in. But now, all of these conveniences seem impossible. Still, students admit that the electric door guard is much safer, as it prevents thieves as well as unwelcome salesmen from entering their dorm. In this way, the electric door guard has its own advantages. The schools authorities say the new system needs some time to improve and that students need time to get used to it. The school has said it will consider the inconveniences brought along with the new door guard and attempt to solve them by other means. On the whole, the new system seems to be good for students living in the dorm building.

New Years Day is one of important days for many people in the world during the year. Most people spend the New Years Day in hotels. January 1st is considered as the New Years Day.
Most companies, shops, school, and government offices are closed during that time. People prepare for New Years Day from late December. First, people spend a few days to clean their houses completely. Some families then put up some new painting from November to be sent in January. The New Years meal is also prepared from the end of December.
During the New Years Day, people usually do not cook and relax at home. On New Years Eve, it is common to have a bag dinner with family members or friends at home or in hotels and hear bells which informs us of the coming New Year. On New Years Day, people greet each other.
Some people wear new coats and visit temples to pray for happiness and health through out the New Year. Children are busy with getting the gifts from their parents and relatives.

So many people underestimate the power and importance of a smile, that simple little facial expression characterized by an upward curving of the corners of the mouth. A smile has many meanings: pleasure, friendliness, welcome, amusement, and many more; and it is part of a universal body language that doesn’t need any extra interpretation. Plus a smile, with all its simplcity and beauty, can be a very important factor in many aspects of our lives: You fall in love with a new country you visit because its people greet you with a welcoming smile everywhere you go; other countries you just don’t like even though they might have more history, nature, entertainment and whatnot because their people don’t seem so friendly or accepting.
You feel like buying from a certain store when the vendor welcomes you in with a smile, sometimes even if you wouldn’t intially have bought anything; and in other stores, even though they have exactly what you need or better, you decide to walk away because the vendor doesn’t look welcoming at all.
You want to give a waiter a good tip when he serves you with a smile, even if the food turns out not that good; on the other hand, sometimes you’ll have some of the best food ever, but you won’t feel like giving the waiter a tip, even if you do, because he was grumpy. More and more examples from our everyday life show how much a simple smile can change everything. Forever engraved in my mind will be the smiling faces of the people of Thailand, the friendly pizza delivery boy, the welcoming supermarket vendor, the nice cashier at the bank, …etc.
It is these smiles that keep me wanting to go back, and that keep us all wanting to go back; looking at it from another view, if we break it down using business sense, a smile is one of the most effective means to generate sales and develop customer loyalty. On top of all that, a smile is a very simple and easy thing to do, so it amazes why no one bothers to do it, it not only makes the person in front of you better, but it also makes you feel better as well, and I’m not making this up, it has been psychologically proven. Personally, I’d like to see more smiling faces in this world; in the airports when I enter a new country, in companies, government agencies, restaurants, hotels, banks, everywhere; and I think it is up to governments to campaign about this, and even make it obligatory in certain important places like airports, hospitals, hotels…etc.
Let’s all simply smile.

Dear teachers and students
hello everyone!
With the New Years hymn, we have stepped into another year of spring, summer, autumn and winter. The four seasons rotate. As winter goes to spring, we have seen off 20XX with great reluctance, but at the same time, we have also welcomed 20XX with great expectations. Do you have a thousand feelings about the alternation of the old and the new? Looking back on 20XX, we have struggled, lost, joyful, and sad, but we have all walked forward without hesitation. Lets thank each moment for not giving up.
The bell of 20XX has rung. We should not stay in the past. Instead, we should stand up, look ahead, and rearrange our bags. As long as we want to start, it is always the right time. When spring returns to the earth and everything recovers, we should be more hopeful about the future. Life is not only about the past, but also about the future. I hope that we will cherish every minute and every second of the year and make personal plans. As the saying goes, "A good start is half the success". If there were regrets in the past, we should change from now on. If we had a full harvest, we should add more horsepower at this time. None of us can change the past, but I can master the future. You need to make corresponding efforts to become what you want to be. No pains, no gains. We all know that "the time to plant a tree is ten years ago, followed by the present". So if you want to change, it is better to put your ideas into practice now. Start one second first, and reap one second first. Lets not leave any regrets in the new year!
It doesnt wait for me, students. The new year has begun. We also have a new task in this year. I hope we can all face it in the same way. "The world is uncertain, you and I are both dark horses", and we will make brilliant achievements!
Thank you!
