Unit 5Faster,higher and stronger Teaching aims:Compare personal characteristics.Relate personal experience and opinions.
Language focus:You're abetter jumper this year than last year.
Alice is the best jumper in the school.
They won more medals than Dragon Team.
They won the most medals and they are in first place.
Tasks:Write areport based on amodel.
Listen and chant to practice talking about sports.
Step1:1.Bring in photos of different events,e.g.the 60m race,the 60m hurdles,the high jump,the long jump.
2.What is this event?It's the high jump.
3.My favourite event is the 60m race.
4.What's your favourite event?
Step2:1.Write some students'records on the board.Tell the students who is good,who is better,who is the best.
2.Explain to the students that better is the comparative of good and best is the superlative of good.
3.Collection information about the school records for different events.Share the information with the students.Ask them to make sentences using good,better,best,runner,jumper.
Step3:Animal records.
1.Ask the students if they know which animal is the fastest on land or in water.
2.Read through the passage with the class.
3.Introduce kilometer to the class.Remind the students that 1kilometre is equal to 100 metres.
